Moore Cove Falls
Moore Cove Falls located in Pisgah National Forest is what I like to refer to as a hidden gem. This 50-foot waterfall located a mile past the popular Looking Glass Falls, can be easily missed.
Our family went over the week at a time when the area wasn’t having a lot of rain which means the falls weren’t as stunning as after a good rain. The creek that flows into the falls has a low volume of water, so to see the falls at their best, I recommend timing your visit after the area has had a lot of rain. If you travel like our family, I know that isn’t always possible. However, even with a small amount of rain, this hike is worth the stop.
This family-friendly hike is relatively easy, and takes you through the lush, hardwood forest. There are a few steeps steps, but those are found at the start of the trail. During the hike, you’ll cross over Moore Creek a few times. However, there is no chance of getting wet. You’ll find wooden walk-ways throughout.
Once reaching the fall and taking the time to enjoy it’s beauty, you can continue on. Walking behind the falls and hanging out under the large rocks was truly magical. For sure a favorite of ours.
