Southern Tree Plantation

Our family looks forward to visiting Southern Tree Plantation every year. I suppose one could say that it’s become a family tradition. While others are out shopping Black Friday deals, our family is enjoying a fun-filled day at the plantation.

I just can’t explain the feeling you get when you walk into the main Christmas barn area. It’s filled with Christmas lights and decorations. You can hear Christmas music playing ever so lightly in the background, and of course that’s where you’ll find Santa!

Did you say Santa?

You better believe I said Santa! Keep in mind that Santa only makes his appearance on Thanksgiving weekend (Friday & Saturday). Not only can your little ones tell Santa what they want for Christmas, but this is the perfect opportunity to snap a picture with Santa.Southern Tree Plantation

Over the course of the year our family has continued to grow. Our daughter, her husband and twin boys were able to join us for this Santa visit. I’ll go ahead and say that we probably gave Santa quit the workout with our herd.

Before pictures they had the chance to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas. This is an amazing Santa and takes the time to talk to each child that comes to him. southern tree plantationOnce they finished up with Santa, they told me a few things Santa said to them, and it warmed my heart. He asked the boys if they’ve been good…I’m sure you know what that answer was. Then he followed up and asked if they had been perfect. When they said yes, he took this time to minister. He explained to them that no one was perfect, not even Santa. And that the only person that is perfect is Jesus, and he’s the reason for the season.

Roast marshmallows, take a hayride, & get lost in a maze.

If Christmas trees and Santa Claus isn’t enough to get you to Southern Tree Plantation, they also have other activities. After visiting Santa, you can stop by the ticket booth and pay to roast a giant marshmallow, or even get tickets for the hayride or the Christmas train.Southern Tree Plantation

The Christmas train is designed with younger children in mind. Our boys didn’t ride this one, but a friend of ours little one did. It goes at a slow pace and a shorter distance. Depending on the age of your child, they’ll be able to ride this one by themselves.Southern Tree Plantation

The hayride that is offered at the plantation is one of my favorites. It takes you over the 60 acres that the Plantation has to offer. You’ll enjoy the breathtaking mountain views, rivers, creek and of course all the beautiful Christmas trees.Southern Tree Plantation

They also have pony rides.Luke was small enough to ride the pony, but he isn’t a huge fan of horses so we skipped this one. They have other animals that the kids can look at and enjoy. The maze and playground is a great way for them to burn off a little excitement after visiting Santa.Southern Tree Plantation

Trees….Trees…and more Trees….

After all this is a Christmas tree farm, and Christmas trees they have. They have a huge selection of trees that are absolutely gorgeous. You’ll find Caanan Fir, Fraser Fir, Blue Spruce , and Norway Spruce at the plantation. You can also cut your own tree, or pick from a large selection of precut trees. This year, we opted for a pre-cut since Ryan had went the day before to get stitches in his hand.Southern Tree Plantation
