Annual Mountain Heritage Festival

It’s that time of year. There are tons of festivals that kick off and while we want to go to ALL of them, it just isn’t possible. This past weekend we chose to head to the Mountain Heritage Festival in Blairsville, GA. This FREE festival has beautifully hand-crafted items for sale from local vendors. It also offers living history activities and demonstrations for all ages!Heritage Festival

Entering the festival you’ll find tons of local vendors with so many amazing items. I could easily spend the bulk of my time there, but the boys aren’t too interested in shopping.

The boy’s favorite part of the festival is the mining. They could easily spend hours there.Heritage Festival

Their next favorite would have to be hands down the black smith. Our youngest always tells us that he’s going to be a blacksmith when he grows up.  He’s always filled with tons of questions to ask.Heritage Festival

Followed by the animals. The FFA sets up an area and everyone can pet the animals that they bring. This year the pig was roaming around, and was such a joy to watch.Heritage Festival

We also took a tours inside the 1906 Butt-Mock Home that was donated to the Historical Society on 1994 has been fully restored, and the 1861 John Payne Cabin.  They always get a short lesson about the civil war at this event.  The following weekend of this Heritage Festival is the Battle of Tunnel Hill ReenactmentHeritage Festival

If you’re in the area of Blairsville, GA on Labor Day weekend, this festival is definitely worth checking out.
